Berry Butter Soap - Information & Recipe Copyright of Tanya Chappell

This luscious, creamy soap is a major hit with my friends and family. It is moisturising, soothing and gently exfoliating – enjoy!

Ingredients

1 lb (approx 460 grams) Melt & Pour goats milk soap base
2 tbs buttermilk powder blended with approx 2 tsp filtered water and 2 tsp aloe vera gel
1 tbs mango butter
2 tbs pureed raspberries blended using approx 2 tsp filtered water
Rose pink food colouring – approx 1/2 to 1 tsp (or any good quality melt & pour pink/red soap colour to taste)

Note: I didn’t add any fragrance, preferring this soap to be naturally scented (smells mildly like a berry milkshake!). You can add 1/2 to 1 tsp raspberry or other berry/fruit fragrance to suit your taste.

Method

Place soap base in microwave safe jug and melt on medium power for 1 minute, stir and repeat in 30 second increments. Finish the melting process when a few small lumps of soap base remain; gently stirring until smooth.

Add mango butter and stir in until melted – reheating gently as required. Add buttermilk powder blend and whisk to incorporate well. Add pureed raspberries*(see note below) and colouring. Whisk well again. Add fragrance oil now if using.

Stir gently with a spoon until slightly cooled and thickened to suspend berry seeds evenly through soap. Pour into moulds.

(*If pureeing frozen berries they may be too cold when added in and soap mixture could turn lumpy. If this occurs simply gently reheat until mixture stirs smoothly again.)
